Halloween in Itaewon

So I went to Seoul for Halloween. I didn't even know if they would be celebrating it. But my birthday was on a Monday this year (same as Marcus Lattimore, get well soon), so I decided to go the weekend before. My friend was talking up Itaewon, the foreigner district of Seoul, as a really cool place. Itaewon is quite different. A lot of people don't like it. But I live in a small town, so seeing other foreigners is pretty fun for me. I don't know if I'd want to live there but it's nice being able to go to a bar and get a beer without getting smashed on Soju or ordering some expensive side dish.

We were supposed to take the early bus. So, as planned, I woke up at 6:30. My friend didn't wake up until 10. We didn't leave until 11:30 because the 10:30 tickets were sold out. Not a good start. So we get to Seoul and meet our other friend. He's an older guy, but he lived in Seoul for a while and knows his way around. By the time we got to our hostel, it was already around 5 PM. So we said whatever, let's go drink.

We went to Rocky Mountain Tavern first. I was not impressed. The food was pretty shit, and the service was also shit. Drinks were ok. But their version of Jagerbombs was apparently Irish Car Bombs. I was trying to get pumped up, not drink more beer!

Anyways, we left there and wandered around. I got a bunch of pictures of costumes. Most of the people half assed it just wearing a mask or little light up ears that they sold on the street, but I was impressed with how much effort some people actually put into their costumes. I was wearing my manbuk hat, which means "mentally unbalanced" in Korean, and Korean people always get a kick out of my hat.

After wandering around, we went to a club called BOne. It was awesome. The ratio of girls:guys was like 3:1 thank god. But you know me, I just dance by myself. I was definitely famous in there of course. I danced on the stage a few times. But my friend isn't a big dancer, and he wanted to go outside for a smoke. We were going to go back in, but decided to do other things. Eventually, we ended up at a talking bar. A talking bar is where girls come and talk and flirt with you and you buy them overpriced drinks. It's not a juicy bar, which has hookers. Talking bar is just that talking. But due to some events I was pretty sad at the time. I met a really cool woman and she talked to me and we were talking for a while. We danced and stuff, I taught her the wobble. I don't know why I like the wobble now, it must be the familiarity because I despise that song. I danced Gangnam of course because you can't go out in Korea without hearing that song every hour on the hour. I spent way too much money there but you only have one birthday a year might as well go hard.

So the enxt day was recovery day. We had bus tickets at 9 PM but I didn't want to spend any more money. I bought some books, we wandered around for a while. Overall, just a chill day. But the night was crazy. So far I have been to itaewon and Hongdae in Seoul. Both are pretty different. i will have to go to Gangnam next.
